SALT LAKE CITY-Sunday evening, Elder Robert C. Gay of the Presidency of the Seventy and his wife, Lynette, addressed the youth of the Church at a worldwide devotional.
The broadcast originated at the Church Office Building Auditorium at Temple Square in Salt Lake City and attendance was limited only to those who spoke and offered prayers, following the pattern of last month’s Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints general conference.
The devotional was streamed live in 18 languages and in subsequent days, it will be archived and available in 39 languages at broadcast.churchofjesuschrist.org.
In hopes of galvanizing youth to make the best change in their lives, Elder Gay encouraged his audience to carefully consider how their hopes align with God’s priorities.
Elder Gay reminded his listeners that establishing the spiritual equilibrium they need is a process and they should therefore be patient with themselves.
Sister Gay, who had previously been a Seminary teacher and served in various Primary and Relief Society roles for the Church, then spoke.
She spoke of how she learned that revelation was not just something reserved for men in the Church.
This occurred when their daughter was at the University of Utah and she asked an officer to check the area around her apartment.
The next day, she discovered that a murder had occurred in the area but her daughter was safe.
She concluded by saying that even when it seems no one understands you, Christ always does.
