SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, the University of Utah announced its keystone speaker for its 2022 campus-wide commencement ceremony this spring.

U of U president Taylor Randall and president of the Associated Students of the University of Utah, Jessica Wojciechowski, confirmed Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser, a graduate of the Class of 1984, will receive this honor.

The announcement was made during Tuesday’s Board of Trustees meeting.

Commencement is slated for Thursday May 5 at 6:00 pm at the Huntsman Center.

In-person college convocations will occur May 5 and 6.

Bowser was named as Nintendo of America president in April 2019. He oversees the company’s business operations throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America.

He joined Nintendo in May 2015 as vice president of sales.

Bowser presently serves on the executive board of the Entertainment Software Association of Washington D.C. and is on the executive board of directors for the Pacific Science Center of Seattle.
