MENDOZA, Argentina-In news released Tuesday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a rendering for its temple to be constructed at Mendoza, Argentina.
Church President Russell M. Nelson announced this temple in October 2018. It will be constructed along Avenida Champagnat between Calle Dr. Pose and Calle Dr. Coni E.
Plans are calling for a temple consisting of approximately 21,000 square feet. This is a classically proportioned, yet modern single-spire design to be constructed in Mendoza, a city with a metro area of more than 1 million people.
An adjacent meetinghouse and temple patron housing will also be constructed on the property.
The Mendoza Argentina Temple, upon its completion and dedication, will be the fourth temple in Argentina.
Argentina is the home to 470,843 Latter-day Saints, 78 stakes and two current temples.
Other Argentinian temples are located in Buenos Aires (1986; rededicated in 2012) and Cordoba (2015).
The Salta Argentina Temple is expected to have ground broken in August 2020 as the winter season ensues in the Southern Hemisphere.
