HEBER CITY, Utah-Monday, Smith’s confirmed that shoppers who rely on government benefits can now shop on the Smith’s app and pay with their electronic benefits transfer cards for curbside pickup.
This includes the Heber City Smith’s, located at 550 N. Main.
Shoppers may also submit their order online at smithsfoodanddrug.com.
Smith’s corporate affairs manager, Aubriana Martindale, said the company is rolling out a capability for payment across all grocery stores. She said this is to make fresh, affordable food and essentials more accessible for customers.
This curbside pickup works the same as most other pickup apps as they can select the closest Smith’s store, shop and place their orders and then specify a date and time for the pickup.
Customers can then select the SNAP/EBT option. Following this, a Smith’s employee will shop for the person’s order and bring it out of the pickup section of the parking lot.
When the employee shows up to the car, the person can pay for their order without the EBT card.
Smith’s says they have hired more employees to make the system more efficient.
All pickup fees have been waived and there is no minimum purchase required for customers to use their pickup option.
Officials said people may also use the service to pick up their prescriptions.
