(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is renewing its call for water conservation as the Great Salt Lake struggles with critically low levels. Church leaders said yesterday, “We recognize that there is no single solution to this situation,” and encouraged members to conserve water and support preservation efforts. The church says it has donated or leased nearly 30-thousand acre-feet of water to the lake and installed more than three-thousand smart irrigation controllers across the Intermountain West. Other conservation projects are saving about 16-hundred acre-feet of water each year.
