(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah lawmakers are again debating how to pay for future water projects. An interim committee heard testimony yesterday on a failed proposal that would have required some utilities seeking state money to meet a local-revenue threshold. A state-commissioned study projected about one-point-two-billion-dollars in annual infrastructure costs during the early years of a plan stretching to 2070. Critics questioned the study’s assumptions and asked for clearer project-level accounting before customers are charged more.
