CINCINNATI-Cincinnati-based Kroger became among the first businesses to receive emergency use authorization for a COVID-19 test taken at home.
This also includes Smith’s Food and Drug Supermarkets, including the Heber City location at 550 N. Main in Heber City.
Customers cannot walk in and buy the test off the shelf. Rather, they must have a prescription and get them online through The Little Clinic, neighborhood medical care provided via Kroger Health.
These at-home tests are part of a partnership with Gravity Diagnostics of Covington, Ky., a Cincinnati suburb.
Gravity Diagnostics analyzes up to 7,000 COVID-19 tests daily for patients throughout the country.
With a prescription, a patient may go online and must agree to confidential reporting portal terms and sort out the symptoms.
If there are serious symptoms, the patient may be directed to the nearest emergency room.
If the symptoms are mild, the patient will submit benefit information from the employer.
Once the request is approved, a test, complete with a swab, is sent within 48 hours.
Patients will learn about negative results by email or text and will be called for a follow-up should the results be positive.
