Heber Valley Residents Express Concerns About Wastewater Lagoons

(Midway, UT) — People who live near the Heber Valley wastewater lagoons are concerned about possible health risks and may seek a legal remedy. KSL reports residents say more than 40 acres of Special District Service ponds filled with treated sewage generate bad odors and pose a health risk. Residents recently participated in a survey to identify a variety of health concerns. Survey results were sent to the county health department and district, which lead to an air quality study by the Utah Department of Health and Human Services. In late February, about 30 residents attended a public hearing to voice concerns with state scientists. The department says the district is currently in compliance with its permit, with no major violations.
