Former U.S. Congressman Cannon Is Dead At Age 73

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Family is confirming that former Utah Rep. Chris Cannon has died. A brother of the late congressman did not release additional information on Wednesday concerning the death of the 73-year-old Republican lawmaker who represented the state’s 3rd Congressional District from 1997 to 2009. Cannon was unseated in a race won by Jason Chaffetz. In a social media post, Chaffetz called Cannon patriotic and hard working. During his tenure, Cannon served on the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law and was one of the House impeachment managers tasked with prosecuting the impeachment case against President Bill Clinton in the U.S. Senate. No information is yet available regarding funeral services for Cannon.
