WASHINGTON-Thursday, United States president Donald Trump presided over a productive briefing as the White House Coronavirus Task Force shared their latest information on COVID-19.
To start things off, Trump said “We expect the house to pass the Paycheck Protection Program.”
He confirmed that immigration has indeed been suspended. This order applies to foreigners requesting green cards and were not in the United States when the suspension became effective.
It does not apply to those immigrants who are already in the United States and are in the process of changing their immigration status.
Trump reported that 46 states have reported drops in daily coronavirus cases. Utah remains one of the four holdouts at this stage.
Trump then said “we’re very close to a vaccine, but not very close to testing it.” He said that continuous diligence is an essential part of this strategy.
Trump also said American Artificial Intelligence is scouring 52,000 scholarly articles on COVID-19 in hopes of compiling information so that COVID-19 can be repelled.
Vice President Mike Pence then spoke, saying “at this rate, it looks like the United States can have much of the COVID-19 pandemic behind us by early summer.”
Pence also said more than 4,500 medical professionals in our military have been deployed across the United States to assist hospitals.
Pence said 16 states have unveiled reopening plans and he is pleased to see their phase-in plans.
These states include Missouri, Texas and Pennsylvania who are all following White House guidelines for reopening and adding regions guidance, Pence stated.
Pence said the administration will continue to work closely with the states to provide the latest data to inform their reopening plans.
Pence concluded, saying “the progress we are seeing is a testament to what you [Americans] are doing right.”
The truly valuable information of the day then came from William N. Bryan, the science/technology director for the Department of Homeland Security.
Bryan confirmed that his studies have determined that solar light and humidity have a powerful effect on killing COVID-19.
He said increasing temperature, humidity or both, make it more difficult for the coronavirus to survive.
Furthermore, he said that bleach can kill the virus within 30 seconds.
The White House Coronavirus Task Force will again meet Friday.
