CASPER, Wyo.-Saturday, Elder Gifford S. Nielsen of the Quorum of Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of the Casper Wyoming Temple.
In offering a dedicatory prayer, Elder Nielsen spoke of the experiences of the early Latter-day Saints as they traveled to the Salt Lake Valley.
Attendance at the site was by invitation only. Latter-day Saints who reside in the Casper Wyoming Temple District were able to watch via broadcast.
This temple was announced in the April 2021 General Conference of the Church by Church President Russell M. Nelson.
Upon completion, this will be Wyoming’s second temple. The first Wyoming temple is located at Star Valley (2016).
Last weekend, Pres. Nelson announced a temple for Cody Wyoming during General Conference.
