PROVO, Utah-Tuesday, Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints addressed the weekly BYU Devotional at the Marriott Center.
Elder Christofferson’s purpose in the address was emphasizing the two great commandments Christ outlined during His mortal Ministry: loving others and loving thyself.
Elder Christofferson emphasized the first commandment, saying it is first as it lays the foundation for our spiritual lives. Furthermore, it assists in avoiding harming those whom we are attempting to help.
Elder Christofferson then outlined five ways to honor the first commandment:
- Keep God’s commandments
- Serve Others. He called the Church’s efforts in alleviating suffering in Ukraine “truly Christlike.”
- Share The Gospel Through Missionary Service
- Pray and Study Scripture
- Live With a Sense of Accountability to God
Elder Christofferson concluded his remarks by saying God commands His children to love Him because “of what He knows it will do for us.”
