Driver License Division Takes Safety Precautions In Utah

SALT LAKE CITY-The Utah Drivers License Division offices are implementing measures to protect the health and safety of Utah communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Utah Department of Public Safety’s Driver License Division has updated information regarding the services it provides.

These updates are in alignment with Utah Gov. Gary Herbert’s movements to orange or “moderate risk.”

As of May 1, the DMV reopened lobbies by appointment only. Social distancing guidelines must be followed, including face masks being worn in the lobby.

Appointments are available Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm.

On May 4, 2020, the DLD expanded services and continued to abide by social distancing guidelines, accommodating appropriate customer spacing and ensuing with strict hygiene standards.

The DLD confirmed the following services are available: learner permits, original license/out of state transfer, provisional license (under 21), motorcycle permits and motorcycle skills tests.

Essential services are also available on a walk-in basis. These include CDL License (original license, renewal/duplicate, knowledge test, skills test), renewal, duplicate, reinstatement and renewals for high-risk populations and essential workers.
