SCIPIO, Utah-Thursday, a high-speed chase in Millard County ended with one taken to the hospital in serious condition, per officials.

Following the chase, authorities said the person had suffered what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

However, they do not yet know when or how the person was shot.

Late Thursday morning, a Millard County sheriff’s deputy responded to a call concerning a suspicious truck in a Scipio neighborhood.

As the deputy approached the truck, it drove away and ending up reaching speeds higher than 100 miles an hour on I-15.

The drivers later drove the truck off the interstate, onto the shoulder and into some trees before stopping.

The deputy again approached the vehicle, discovering the driver was injured with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers assisted the deputy with the driver’s injuries after which the driver was transported to a hospital.

The Utah State Bureau of Investigations is looking into this incident.
