Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionary Passes Away

SALT LAKE CITY-Per a Thursday report, a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints passed away.

The deceased, 24-year-old Elder Tshiama Anaclet Tshiama, of Luputa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, passed away unexpectedly Sunday December 19.

Elder Tshiama was serving in the Cote D’Ivoire Abidjan East Mission of the Church.

Shortly after awaking Sunday morning, Elder Tshiama was found unresponsive by his companion.

He was subsequently taken to a hospital, where he passed away. His cause of death remains unknown at this time.

Preliminary reports suggest an undiagnosed medical condition was the cause of death.

Funeral plans are still being finalized at this stage.

The Salt Lake City-based faith sends its love to Elder Tshiama’s family and to all who served with him during his mission.

The hope, per the Church, is that the Savior’s peace will be felt among those grieving at this difficult time.
