Provo Canyon Shut Down In Utah County

The latest information from the Utah Department of Public Safety confirms the incident officially occurred Sunday at 6:30 pm as the motorcyclist traveled eastbound on US 189 near the mouth of Provo Canyon.

As the motorcycle approached the intersection with Squaw Peak Road, a 2015 Nissan Sentra pulled onto US 189 ahead of the motorcyclist.

This caused the motorcycle to strike the Nissan in the driver’s side rear quarter panel. The motorcyclist was then transported by ground ambulance with critical injuries. The rider has since been listed in stable condition. US 189 was closed in both directions for two hours.

US 189 in Provo Canyon has since been reopened.

Delays will likely occur for the next few minutes or so.

The Utah Highway Patrol gave a target time for when things would be cleared up.

Further information from the Utah Highway Patrol confirms a motorcycle accident occurred. The injured rider was life flighted.

Sunday evening, UDOT confirmed Provo Canyon is shut down in Utah County.

For the time being, SR 92 (American Fork Canyon) and I-80 can be used to get to the Heber Valley if you are on the Wasatch Front for the time being.
