Prescribed Fire For Heber-Kamas Ranger District

UINTA-WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST, Utah-Per a Wednesday report, the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest will conduct a prescribed fire on the Heber-Kamas Ranger District.

The fire is planned between Upper Setting and Norway Flats from October 1-November 30.

This is the Shingle Creek Area and will be known as the Upper Provo prescribed fire project.

It is approximately eight miles east of Kamas on the north side of the Mirror Lake Scenic Highway (Utah S.R. 150).

The burn is slated for between Upper Setting Road (Forest Service Road #034) and the Norway Flats Road (Forest Service Road #035).

Dispersed campsites that are within or near this prescribed unit need to find another dispersed camp site away from the prescribed burn area.

Camp trailers, vehicles or any other equipment with the burn unit should not be left unattended.

Equipment owners who leave their property unattended will be notified and asked to immediately leave their camp.

Hunters who may have installed hunting blinds or cameras are to remove them from the area as soon as possible.

The purpose of this blaze is to stimulate aspen regeneration and improve wildlife habitat, reduce hazardous fuels and improve the forest’s health.
