SALT LAKE CITY-Per news released Friday Sept. 24, two rooms at the Historic Beehive House in downtown Salt Lake City have bene refurbished to reflect the life of former Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints President Joseph F. Smith and his wife Julina Lambson Smith.
The Salt Lake City-based faith owns this property.
As of Friday, these rooms are part of the public tour of the city landmark.
These two rooms served as the bedroom and personal office of President Joseph F. Smith which is likely the area where Section 138 of the Doctrine and Covenants, concerning the redemption of the dead, was received.
Church history staff have studied President Smith’s life and his final months in the Beehive House to better understand the personal significance of this revelation.
The Church History Library will also simultaneously open a temporary exhibit: “Joseph F. Smith’s Vision of the Redemption of the Dead.”
This exhibit will give access to little-known documents relating to the revelation and will help visitors understand how revelation works.
This exhibit will be open on the first floor of the Beehive House from September 24, 2021-November 18, 2022 during regular business hours.
