SALT LAKE CITY-In a BYU campus devotional address Tuesday, Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles exhorted his Marriott Center audience to “engage with the doctrine of Christ.”
Elder Renlund accentuated the truth that this is not “a once in a lifetime event.”
Elder Renlund, a renowned polyglot, said requisite determination can be found in the Finnish term, “sisu.”
In the Finnish language, “sisu,” Elder Renlund said, represents “determination, tenacity of purpose, resilience and hardiness.”
One who decides on “sisu,” he said, decides a course of action and sticks to it.
Elder Renlund said the Gospel of Christ comprises faith in the Savior, positive change and the reception of the Holy Ghost.
Elder Renlund encouraged his audience to regularly participate in the Sacrament weekly as this is, in essence, a reception of baptism.
In conclusion, he reiterated the importance of “sisu,” saying righteousness does not eradicate the presence of adversity in our lives.
