Winnipeg Temple To Be Dedicated In October

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Canada-Monday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the open house, dedication and youth devotional dates for its temple at Winnipeg.

The open house for the Winnipeg Manitoba Temple is slated for October 9-23, excluding Sundays, and Monday October 11 as this is Canadian Thanksgiving.

The temple will be dedicated by Elder Gerrit W. Gong of The Church’s Quorum of Twelve Apostles Sunday October 31 in four sessions.

All dedicatory sessions will be broadcast to meetinghouses in the temple district.

A youth devotional will occur October 24 where youth, aged 12-18, will hear from Church leaders.

Manitoba presently consists of 4,716 Latter-day Saints in one stake (the Winnipeg Manitoba Stake) which was created in 1978. The Canada Winnipeg Mission was created in 1976.

Presently, the Canada Winnipeg Mission consists of all of the provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan and much of western Ontario.

The Salt Lake City-based faith has had a presence in Manitoba since 1897.
