Elder Holland Speaks At BYU Monday

PROVO, Utah-Monday, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of The Quorum of Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spoke to staff at Brigham Young University during the first day of the private institution’s 2021 University Conference.

BYU, which is owned and operatd by the Salt Lake City-based faith and Elder Holland have a long history together.

The St. George, Utah native was both a student (in the 1960’s) and a president (1980-1989) at this institution.

During his remarks, Elder Holland expressed his deep love for the university and emphasized the opportunity the institution has to be true to the teachings of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Elder Holland said BYU can only be an educational Mount Everest, in alluding to remarks by former Church President Spencer W. Kimball, if it embraces its uniqueness.
