SALT LAKE CITY-Jake McCarthy homered and the Reno Aces bested Salt Lake 8-4 Friday in the first game of a doubleheader at Smith’s Ballpark in Triple A-West play.

Chad Wallach, Michael Stefanic and Jose Rojas all had RBI in the loss for the Bees.

Junior Garcia earned the win on the mound for the Aces, improving to 1-2 on the season. Reno improved to 54-37 on the season with the Bees slumping to 42-48.

SALT LAKE CITY-Nick Heath’s 5th home run of the season led the way as the Reno Aces completed a Friday doubleheader sweep with a 5-2 win over the Salt Lake Bees Friday at Smith’s Ballpark.

Luis Frias earned the win on the mound for Reno in his first appearance of the season.

Reno improved to 55-37 with the Bees falling to 42-49.

The Bees and Aces meet again at Smith’s Ballpark Saturday at 6:35 pm.

Pioneer League

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-Reese Alexiades homered and the Ogden Raptors surged past Grand Junction 7-4 Friday at Suplizio Field in Pioneer League play.

Nico Tellache earned the win on the mound for the Raptors. Ogden improved to 44-32-1 on the season with the win.

Josh Elvir and Dondrei Hubbard each homered for the Rockies in the loss. Grand Junction fell to 40-33-1 with the defeat.

The Raptors and Rockies meet again at Suplizio Field Saturday at 6:40 pm.
