This process allows voters to rank their choices (first, second, third and so on). Should someone win 50 percent during the first round, that candidate becomes the winner.
If no one reaches this threshold, the last-place finisher is eliminated and that candidate’s supporters are reallocated to their next backup choice.
This process is repeated until a candidate wins over 50 percent of the votes.
