KENSINGTON, Md.-Tuesday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed the open house, youth devotional and rededication of the Washington D.C. Temple will occur in 2022.
This was made evident during a media event at the Washington D.C. Temple Visitors’ Center in a letter from the Church’s First Presidency.
A media day for the renovated temple is slated for April 18, 2022.
This will be followed by private tours for invited guests from April 19-27.
A two-month public open house commences April 28 and will run through June 4 (except for Sundays).

The youth devotional is June 18. This will be followed by a temple rededication June 19 in three sessions.
The youth devotional and rededication will be broadcast for all congregations within the Washington D.C. Temple District.
The temple first opened in 1974 and closed in March 2018 for a significant renovation.
The mechanical, electrical, plumbing and lighting systems have been refreshed throughout the 160,000-square foot structure.
This temple serves Latter-day Saints in Washington D.C., Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
In other news from the Church Tuesday, the Fortaleza Brazil Temple will reopen to Phase 2-B status August 2. Phase 2-B consists of being open for all living ordinances and baptisms for deceased individuals with restrictions.
