SALT LAKE CITY-Joe McCarthy homered twice and Ronnie Freeman also went yard as the Sacramento River Cats pounded Salt Lake 14-5 Sunday at Smith’s Ballpark in Triple A West play.

The River Cats improved to 24-33 on the season and ended the Bees’ 5-game winning streak.

Conner Menez earned the win on the mound for Sacramento, improving to 1-1 on the season.

Preston Palmeiro, Matt Thaiss, Anthony Bemboom, Gavin Cecchini and Brandon Marsh all had RBI in defeat for the Bees, who fell to 29-28.

Salt Lake and Sacramento meet again Monday at 6:35 pm at Smith’s Ballpark.
