UDOT reports US 40 is affected by an extensive traffic accident near Strawberry Reservoir.

The clearance time in the area is indefinite. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route if at all possible.

Later reports attest a woman died in this accident.

The incident occurred when a Toyota Highlander turned left from Strawberry Road onto US 40 but failed to yield to an eastbound Nissan van.

The Nissan hit the driver side of the Toyota, forcing both cars off of the road, officials stated.

These two vehicles were the only ones implicated in the accident.

Three adults were extricated during the crash and were later transported to the hospital via a medical helicopter, per a statement from Utah Highway Patrol.

One woman suffered critical injuries, later dying in surgery. She was not idenitified.

The highway patrol said several children were in the Nissan van but suffered only minor bumps and bruises.
