Triple A-West
SALT LAKE CITY-Drew Butera’s insurance home run in the 8th Inning assured the Salt Lake Bees a 10-9 win over Las Vegas Friday in Triple A-West play at Smith’s Ballpark.
After Las Vegas drew first blood in the 1st Inning on a solo home run from Jacob Wilson, the Bees responded in the bottom of the 1st with RBI from Jo Adell, Michael Stefanic and Scott Schebler, giving Salt Lake a 3-1 lead.
In the 2nd Inning, Nate Mondou had an RBI single to pull the Aviators to within one of the Bees at 3-2.
In the bottom of the 3rd Inning, a Jose Rojas RBI single increased Salt Lake’s lead to 4-2.
Cody Thomas then had a solo shot for the Aviators to pull Las Vegas back to within one at 4-3 in the top of the 4th Inning.
In the bottom of the 4th Inning, Salt Lake built its lead to 6-3 on a Las Vegas throwing error and a Matt Thaiss RBI double.
The Aviators took a 7-6 lead in the 5th Inning on a Carlos Perez RBI single, a Cody Thomas RBI triple and on a wild pitch from Zac Ryan which saw Thomas score.
Las Vegas increased its lead to 9-6 in the 6th Inning on a Pete Kozma RBI single and a Wilson RBI on a groundout.
The Bees then took control as in the bottom of the 7th Inning, Rojas homered and Jake Gatewood added an RBI single.
Tyler Danish earned the win on the mound for the Bees in his first appearance of the season. Salt Lake improved to 19-24 with the win while the Aviators fell to 22-22.
The Bees and Aviators meet again at Smith’s Ballpark Saturday at 6:35 pm.

MISSOULA, Mont.-Andy Armstrong and Jakob Goldfarb each homered and the Ogden Raptors dowed the Missoula Paddleheads 6-5 Friday in Pioneer League play at Ogren Park At Allegiance Field.
Dylan Pearce earned the win on the mound for the Raptors, who improved to 21-9.
Zachery Almond homered in defeat for Missoula, as the Paddleheads fell to 21-9.
The Raptors and Paddleheads meet again Saturday at 7:05 pm at Ogren Park At Allegiance Field.
