SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced temple sites for the following three locations: Farmington, N.M., Grand Junction, Colo. and Burley, Idaho
The Farmington Temple will be constructed on a 6.62-acre site located at the intersection of College Boulevard and Windsor Drive. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 25,000 square feet and a meetinghouse on-site.
This will be New Mexico’s second temple, following the Albuquerque Temple (2000). There are 69,488 Latter-day Saints in New Mexico or just over 3.3 percent of the state’s population.
The Grand Junction Temple will be located on a 6.94-acre site located at the intersection of Horizon Drive and North 12th Street. Plans call for a single-story temple of roughly 25,000 square feet.
This temple will be the third in Colorado upon its dedication. Other Coloradan temples are located in Denver (1986) and Fort Collins (2016).
There are 150,509 Latter-day Saints in Colorado or 2.7 percent of the state’s population.
The Burley Idaho Temple will be built on a 10.1-acre site at 40 South and 150 East. Plans call for a two-story temple consisting of approximately 38,600 feet.
This will be the seventh temple in the state upon its dedication. Other Idahoan temples are located in Boise (1984; 1987; 2012), Idaho Falls (1945; 2017), Meridian (2017), Rexburg (2008) and Twin Falls (2008). The Pocatello Idaho Temple will be dedicated November 7, making it the sixth temple in Idaho.
There are 462,069 Latter-day Saints in Idaho or 26.9 percent of the state’s population.
