SACRAMENTO, Calif.-Thairo Estrado belted a 3-run homer and Joe McCarthy posted an RBI single in a productive 9th Inning as the Sacramento River Cats came from behind to stun the Salt Lake Bees 7-6 Monday at Sutter Health Park in Triple A-West play.
The Bees built a 3-0 lead in the top of the 2nd Inning on Anthony Bemboom’s inside-the-park home run.
Sacramento responded in the bottom of the 2nd Inning on an Arismendy Alcantara home run to make it a 3-2 game.
The Bees extended the lead to 5-2 in the top of the 3rd Inning on an Alcatara throwing error as Bemboom and Jon Day each scored.
In the bottom of the 6th Inning, Jaylin Davis had an RBI single to pull Sacramento within two at 5-3.
In the top of the 9th Inning, Jay scored on a wild pitch from reliever Trevor Hildenberger to give the Bees a 6-3 lead, setting the stage for the River Cats’ heroics.
Hildenberger earned the win for Sacramento, improving to 1-1 on the season.
The River Cats improved to 17-23 and the Bees fell to 17-23.
The series concludes with a 2:05 pm MDT opening pitch at Sutter Helath Park Tuesday.
Pioneer League
OGDEN, Utah-Kolton Kendrick posted 4 RBI and the Boise Hawks overpowered the Ogden Raptors 12-8 Monday at Lindquist Field in Pioneer League play.
Tyler Tomaka earned the win on the mound for the Hawks.
Jakob Goldfarb and Joshua Broughton each homered in defeat for the Raptors. Boise improved to 9-18 with the win while the Raptors fell to 20-7 with the defeat.
