UINTA-WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST, Utah-The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, including the Heber-Kamas Ranger District, commences stage 1 fire restrictions Friday.
This is because of public health safety concerns and to reduce the potential for human-caused fires.
Fires, campfires and charcoal briquettes are only permitted in designated areas.
These restrictions also entail smoking to be limited within enclosed vehicles, buildings, developed recreation sites or while stopped in an area at least 3 feet diameter that is barren or cleared of any flammable material.
Additional restrictions may be applied as conditions warrant. Fire restrictions typically remain in effect until sufficient precipitation has occurred.
Visitors are advised to use extreme caution on national forest lands.
Fireworks are prohibited on all federal lands.
