The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Breaks Ground For Its Temple At Syracuse, Utah Saturday

SYRACUSE, Utah-Saturday morning, ground was broken for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ temple to be constructed at Syracuse, Utah.

Presiding at the groundbreaking ceremony was Elder Kevin R. Duncan of The Quorum of Seventy of The Church.

Elder Duncan, who grew up in the area, noted he could see the barn roof of his childhood home from the temple site.

This temple was announced in April 2020 General Conference by Church president Russell M. Nelson.

The three-story structure is to consist of approximately 89,000 square feet on a 12-acre site at the intersection of 2500 West and 1025 South in Syracuse.

Several members residing in the temple district were invited to bear their testimonies at the ceremony. Among them were Elder Dean M. Davies of the Quorum of Seventy of the Church.

In offering the dedicatory prayer, Elder Duncan thanked the Lord for the “magnificent blessings” that accompany temples when they are dedicated for His work.

There are presently 2,126,216 Utahns who are members of the Church. This consists of just under 68.6 percent of the state’s population.
