SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the sites of three new temples that have recently been announced at General Conference by Church president Russell M. Nelson.
The Casper Wyoming Temple will be constructed on a 9.5-acre site located at the intersection of southwest Wyoming Boulevard and Eagle Drive. It is to be a single-story temple consisting of approximately 10,000 square feet.
This temple will be the second in Wyoming. The Star Valley Temple (Afton, Wyo.) was dedicated October 30, 2016 by David A. Bednar of the Church’s Quorum of Twelve Apostles.
The Elko Nevada Temple is to be constructed on a 5.2-acre site adjacent to the southeast corner of Ruby View Golf Course. Plans are calling for a single-story temple to be roughly 10,000 square feet.
Upon its completion, this will be Nevada’s third temple. The others are located in Las Vegas (December 16-18, 1989) and Reno (April 23, 2000).
The Smithfield Utah Temple is to be constructed on a 13.3-acre site adjacent to the intersection of north 800 West and west 100 North in Smithfield.
It is to be a three-story temple consisting of approximately 81,000 square feet.
Utah has 27 temples announced, under construction, under renovation or in operation.
The Smithfield Temple’s status is comparable to that of the following Utah temples: Ephraim, Layton, Lindon, Orem, Red Cliffs (St. George), Saratoga Springs, Syracuse, Taylorsville and Tooele (Deseret Peak).
