Pres. Oaks Exhorts Latter-day Saints To Act Upon Promptings

SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday morning, President Dallin H. Oaks, the First Counselor in The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spoke concerning the importance of acting upon impressions from the Holy Ghost when they are received.

Pres. Oaks spoke of how he was serving in a Chicago area stake presidency and while driving to Aurora, Ill., to speak at Sacrament meeting, he received a prompting to talk about shoplifting.

There were youth who were shoplifting and Pres. Oaks spoke of the dangers of this crime. A mother in the congregation tearfully thanked him following his remarks, saying that she and her husband had a son guilty of these crimes.

Their son heard Pres. Oaks’ remarks and began to repent of his sins. The mother said she and her husband had tried many times to get through to their son but were unsuccessful.
