Thursday covid-19 report for Utah

SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday, covid-19 statistics were updated for Utah by the state department of health.

Additionally, as Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox announced this week, vaccine availability will be opened up, effective March 1, to the next priority groups.

This consists of all Utahns over the age of 65 and all Utahns who have a high-risk health condition as determined by the state department of health.

These conditions include:

-solid organ transplant recipients

-cancer

-those who receive immunosuppresion therapy

-those in an immunocompromised state

-those with severe kidney disease

-those with uncontrolled diabetes

-people with a BMI of 40 or higher

-those with chronic liver disease

-those with chronic heart disease (not hypertension)

-those with severe chronic respiratory disease

-those with neurological conditions that impair respiratory function

-those suffering from strokes or dementia

those suffering from asplenia

Meanwhile, 462,720 Utahns have been vaccinated per Thursday’s report. This is an increase of 20,244 from Wednesday.

335,077 Utahns (72.4 percent) have received one dose.

127,643 Utahns (27.6 percent) have received the recommended two doses.

5,402 Wasatch County residents have been vaccinated.

This is an increase of 497 from Wednesday’s report.

3,999 Wasatch County residents (74.1 percent) have received one dose.

1,403 Wasatch County residents (25.9 percent) have received both doses.

For the 16th straight day, Utah set a new state record for recovery percentage. 91.6 [91.55] percent of covid-19 cases statewide (328,315-358,581) are recovered.

7.9 [7.94] percent of covid-19 cases statewide (28,492-358,581) are active cases.

In the past 24 hours, new recoveries (2,078) exceed new active cases (-845) and new net recorded cases (1,242).

There are 299,823 more recoveries than active cases statewide.

Of the 14,054 all-time hospitalizations for covid-19 in Utah, 327 are currently hospitalized or 2.3 [2.33] percent.

Of the 327, 128 are in ICU or 39.1 percent of ICU occupancy statewide.

Across Utah, 83.5 percent of ICU beds are occupied and 87.7 percent of ICU referral center beds.

1,774 deaths have been attributed to covid-19 statewide, or 0.494 percent of all-time cases.

Wasatch County School District has 30 active cases out of 677 all-time cases or 4.4 percent.

Wasatch County has 4,190 all-time cases, 93 all-time hospitalizations and 18 all-time deaths attributed to the virus.
