SALT LAKE CITY-In news released Monday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed an additional closure to property in downtown Salt Lake City as renovation at Temple Square ensues.
Presently, the mid-block crosswalk on South Temple, crossing from the Church Office Building Plaza on Temple Square to City Creek has been closed.
This is to ensure pedestrian safety because trucks will be exiting the plaza area in between the Church Administration Building and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
It is anticipated this closure will ensue throughout the remainder of this construction project.
The north sidewalk on South Temple will remain open except for additional closures, as needed.
A flag person will direct pedestrian traffic as trucks exit. Pedestrians will still be able to use crosswalks on Main Street and State Street.
The plaza area reconstruction is to last approximately 18 months with construction to then focus on the Main Street plaza.
