MIDWAY, Utah-Saturday evening, a woman was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Main Street in Midway per a report from Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office officials.
The driver has since been identified as 39-year-old Colby Gertsch. Gertsch is custody and called the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office at 10:30 pm Saturday evening. Gertsch reported he had hit a woman while driving.
Gertsch told authorities the woman was “seriously injured and not breathing.”
Gertsch stayed with the woman until officers arrived on the scene.
The woman’s identity has not yet been released and officers are presently working to notify the next of kin.
Gertsch was booked into the Wasatch County Jail in Heber City.
He has been charged with automobile homicide, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle negligently, causing death. This was per a statement from the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office.
