Man Found Dead In Home Damaged By Apple Valley Fire; Blaze 100 Percent Contained

APPLE VALLEY, Utah-Per a report from officials with the Utah Division of Forestry, a 50-year-old man was found dead inside a home damaged by the Apple Valley Fire in Washington County Tuesday.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the fire had been 100 percent contained.

The man was found dead inside the damaged structure and appeared to have suffered a medical emergency.

Witnesses told authorities they drove toward the fire to make sure everyone was all right.

They then discovered the man and took him away from the blaze so medical personnel could attend to him.

The medical staff on hand were unable to resuscitate the man and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His cause of death is under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office of Hurricane.

Per information from Utah Fire Info, five homes were threatened by the fire. State and federal officials reported that Monday evening, the fire had burned about 80 acres. However, later on, they had mapped the net damage at 49 acres.

Officials said wind was the original impetus of the fire and had commenced at 7:35 pm Monday, two miles west of Apple Valley.

Air and ground resources were then used to combat the blaze Monday.

The fire was believed to be human-caused, per further reports but the exact cause remained under investigation Tuesday.
