SALT LAKE CITY-Saturday morning, Utah Against Police Brutality, a community organization dedicated to ending all forms of police violence in the Beehive State, protested by creating “Car Caravan for Justice in downtown Salt Lake City.
This assembly consisted of hundreds of people showing up on foot to protest. Social distancing regulations were kept and protesters stayed in their vans as the caravan went around the Salt Lake City Police Department station and the surrounding areas.
Utah Against Police Brutality listed the following stipulations for the protest:
-All those engaged in this protest should be in a vehicle
-The importance of this call clarified the continual brutal police killings over the past week throughout Utah and the United States
-They demanded “killer cops” be fired, charged and jailed for their crimes
-They demanded the body footage of authorities killing Salt Lake City resident Bernardo Palacios Carbajal.
-They demanded justice for the death of George Floyd, who was slain this past Monday in Minneapolis
-They demanded the release of all torture victims
-They demanded that police stop filling the jails with non-violent offenders during a global pandemic
-They demanded that incarcerated people at increased risk of COVID-19 be released immediately
-They demand community control occur
