Wasatch Competes At Day 1 of the Snow Canyon Invitational

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Friday, Wasatch High School track & field competed at the first day of the Snow Canyon Invitational. The meet will continue Saturday before the UHSAA imposes a minimum of a two-week ban from March 16-30.

Hurricane’s girls lead the way with 12 points. Wasatch’s girls are tied with Desert Hills for 12th place with 3 points.

For the boys, Westlake’s 16 points lead the way. Wasatch is in 10th place currently with 5 points.

In the girls’ 1600-meter run, Abbie Randall placed 27th (5:33.90) and Allison Munck placed 31st (5:37.12).

Lillie Randall placed 58th (6:04.44), Madelyn King finished 60th (6:06.12) and Audrey Burton (6:10.96) placed 64th.

In the boys’ 1600-meter run, Wasatch’s Bentley Ackerson (4:50.07) finished 27th, Josh Horner placed 34th (4:52.30), Jake Giles placed 60th (5:06.27), Eastin McCotter placed 77th (5:18.54) and Christian Spencer (5:29.32) placed 85th.

Annie Hill is the No. 2 seed headed into the girls’ 100-meter hurdles finals, posting a time of 15.92 seconds in Friday’s prelims.

In the girls’ 400-meter dash, Sydney Price is the No. 5 seed (1:02.90) headed into Saturday’s finals.

In the boys’ 400-meter dash, Mack Hinckley is the No. 8 seed (52.49).

In the girls’ 4 x 800 meter relay, Wasatch placed sixth (10:42.49). The Wasps were represented in this event by Anna Baird, Madelyn King, Allison Munck and Sydney Hales.

In the boys’ 4 x 800 meter relay, the Wasps placed fourth (8:39.56). Wasatch was represented in this event by Bentley Ackerson, Mack Hinckley, Carson Guymon and Josh Horner.

In the boys’ shot put, Jay Nelson is the No. 5 seed (41-06) headed into Saturday’s finals.

The boys’ high jump saw Samuel Nelson place 21st (5-04) and Britton Maxwell (5-04) finished 26th.

Jake Gillman finished 34th (5-02) and AJ Johnson placed 35th (5-02) with Seth Wright placing 40th (5-00).

The Wasps will continue the meet Saturday in all likelihood.
