MILLCREEK, Utah (AP)-Authorities say a California teenager who went missing while hiking in the snowy Utah mountains has been found alive.

The Deseret News reports the 17-year-old was found Friday afternoon and flown out of the canyon east of Salt Lake City by helicopter and taken to a local hospital.

Authorities say he may have suffered injuries. Search and rescue crews spent all Friday morning looking for the teenager.

The boy was visiting a friend and hadn’t been seen since he took an Uber to Millcreek Canyon Thursday morning to take an all-day hike.
