5A State Playoffs Second Round

HEBER CITY, Utah-Danielle Garner led the way with 20 points and No. 6 Wasatch edged No. 11 Clearfield 45-42 Thursday in the second round of the 5A state girls basketball playoffs at The Nest. Ciara De La O led the Falcons in defeat with 14 points. Wasatch next faces No. 3 West Monday at 4:10 pm in the state quarterfinals at The Huntsman Center on the campus of the University of Utah.

SALT LAKE CITY-Kylee Falatea netted 25 points and the No. 3 West Panthers smacked No. 14 Payson 68-36 in the second round of the 5A state girls basketball playoffs Thursday. Emmy Hales led the Lions with 18 points in the loss.

BOUNTIFUL, Utah-Milika Satuala led the way with 21 points and the No. 2 Bountiful RedHawks surged past No. 18 Timpview 51-38 Thursday in the second round of the 5A state girls basketball playoffs. Cumorah Tupola and Stella Madsen scored 10 points apiece in the loss for the Thunderbirds. Bountiful next faces No. 10 Maple Mountain Monday at 5:50 pm at the Huntsman Center in the state quarterfinals.

HOLLADAY, Utah-Leah Bailey netted 22 points and the No. 10 Maple Mountain Golden Eagles upset No. 7 Olympus 60-55 in the second round of the 5A state girls basketball playoffs. Kya Newton’s 21 points and 6 rebounds led the Titans in the loss.

PLAIN CITY, Utah-Brynn Wadman posted 16 points and the No. 4 Fremont Silverwolves pounded No. 20 Spanish Fork 65-23 in the second round of the 5A state girls basketball playoffs Thursday. Alexis Branch led the Dons in the loss with 12 points. Fremont next faces No. 5 Alta Monday at 9:10 pm in the state quarterfinals at the Huntsman Center.

SANDY, Utah-Quincy Kegel led the way with 21 points and the No. 5 Alta Hawks smoked No. 21 Skyline 62-36 Thursday in the second round of the 5A state girls basketball playoffs. Norah Pearce and Mia Johnson had 9 points apiece in the loss for the Eagles.

WEST JORDAN, Utah-Sami Dellamas posted 18 points and the No. 9 Springville Red Devils smoked No. 8 West Jordan 47-34 in the second round of the 5A state girls basketball playoffs Thursday. Atyana Crosby led the Jaguars with 8 points in defeat. The Red Devils next meet No. 1 Pleasant Grove Monday at 7:30 pm in the state quarterfinals at the Huntsman Center.

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah-Tabitha Clark led the way with 17 points and the No. 1 Pleasant Grove Vikings routed No. 17 Bonneville 73-29 Thursday in the second round of the 5A state girls basketball playoffs. Baya Jimenez led the Lakers with 13 points in the loss.
