5A Baseball State Championship Series

OREM, Utah-Luke Livingston and Billy Bird drove in two runs apiece and the No. 2 Timpanogos Timberwolves downed  No. 4 Lehi 5-2 to take a 1-0 lead in the 5A Baseball State Championship Series Friday at DoTerra Field at UCCU Ballpark. The Timberwolves and Pioneers meet again Saturday at 1:30 pm in Game 2 of this series. Should the Pioneers win that game, a third and deciding game would occur later Saturday.

5A Softball State Championship Series

PROVO, Utah-Paige Pierce and Tatum Hall each homered and the No. 1 Spanish Fork Dons doubled up No. 2 Bountiful 8-4 to win the 5A state softball championship Friday at Gail Miller Park on the campus of Brigham Young University. Avery Sapp posted five strikeouts in seven innings of work to earn the win in the circle for the Dons.

This was the Dons’ third straight 5A softball championship and eighth overall.

The Dons have won state championships in 2000, 2006, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022.

5A Boys Lacrosse State Championship Game

HERRIMAN, Utah-The No. 3 Park City Miners upset No. 1 Olympus 11-5 Friday in the 5A state championship lacrosse game at Zions Bank Stadium. This is Park City’s first state championship in boys lacrosse in school history.
