Region 9

HEBER CITY, Utah-Landon Carter posted the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 9th Inning and the Wasatch Wasps outlasted Maple Mountain 7-6 Thursday in Region 9 baseball play. The Wasps overcame a 6-5 deficit in the bottom of the 9th as Carter Bucad tied the game, setting the stage for Carter’s heroics. Cole Zimmerman drove in two more runs in victory for the Wasps. Crew Erickson posted two strikeouts in two innings of work to earn the win on the mound for Wasatch. Corbin Bailey drove in three runs in the loss for the Golden Eagles.

The Wasps, who are No. 25 in the RPI standings in 5A presently, kept their postseason hopes alive. The Wasps next visit Maple Mountain Friday at 3:30 pm on 94.5 The Peak and hebervalleyradio.com.

Softball

Region 9

HEBER CITY, Utah-Ellie Olson drove in a pair of runs and the Spanish Fork Dons dismantled Wasatch 11-3 in Region 9 softball play Thursday. Lucy Evans recorded 14 strikeouts in seven innings of work to earn the win in the circle for the Dons. Berlyn Brown drove in three runs for the Wasps in the loss.

SPRINGVILLE, Utah-The Wasatch Wasps routed Springville 6-1 Thursday in Region 9 boys soccer play.
