SPANISH FORK, Utah-Bennett Averett drove in a pair of runs and the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles overpowered Wasatch 7-4 Tuesday in Region 9 baseball play. Chase Johnston’s five strikeouts in six innings of work earned him the win on the mound for the Golden Eagles. Gage Schiess drove in two runs in the loss for the Wasps.

HEBER CITY, Utah-Taylan Haveron drove in four runs and the Salem Hills Skyhawks pounded Wasatch 17-2 in Region 9 softball play Tuesday. Jocile Norman posted three strikeouts in five innings of work to earn the win in the circle for the Skyhawks.
