Alex Jensen and Irv Roland Will Not Return As Jazz Assistant Coaches In 2023-24

SALT LAKE CITY-Per news released Saturday evening, longtime Utah Jazz assistant coach Alex Jensen will not return to the NBA squad’s staff next season. The same is true of fellow assistant Irv Roland.

Jensen had presently been the longest-tenured assistant on the Jazz staff. He had been in this position since 2013 when he was hired by then-Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin.

Jensen has long been associated with basketball in The Beehive State as he previously starred for the University of Utah under late head coach Rick Majerus from 1995-2000. Between 1995 and 1997, Jensen, a former star at Viewmont High School of Bountiful, served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England.

Prior to his time with the Jazz, Jensen played professionally overseas in Spain, Japan and Türkiye (previously known as “Turkey”) before joining Majerus on his staff at Saint Louis.

Jensen also served as the head coach of the NBA D-League’s Canton Charge, becoming the coach of the year in 2013 before joining the Jazz staff.

Roland had been with the Jazz since 2021.
