HEBER CITY, Utah-Sicily Clark led the way with 14 points and the No. 15 Wasatch Wasps downed No. 18 Provo 51-33 in the first round of the 5A girls basketball playoffs Tuesday at The Nest. Kiley Biorge led the Bulldogs with 11 points in the loss. Wasatch (15-11) next visits No. 2 Bountiful Thursday at 7:00 pm in the 2nd round of the state playoffs.
COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah-Sophie Nielsen posted 17 points and the No. 14 Brighton Bengals pounded No. 19 Stansbury 79-42 Tuesday in the first round of the 5A girls basketball playoffs at Brighton High School. Anika Knudsen had 10 points in the loss for the Stallions. Brighton next visits No. 3 Timpview in the 2nd round of the state playoffs Thursday at 7:00 pm.
LAYTON, Utah-Karlee Mayfield posted 19 points and the No. 10 Northridge Knights stonewalled No. 23 Cedar Valley 70-48 in the first round of the 5A girls basketball playoffs Tuesday at Northridge High School. Gabrielle Hudson led the Aviators with 13 points in the loss. Northridge next visits No. 7 Highland Thursday at 7:00 pm in the 2nd round of the state playoffs.
SANDY, Utah-Fui Niumeitolu led the way with 24 points and the No. 13 Jordan Beetdiggers edged No. 20 Box Elder 46-41 Tuesday at Jordan High School in the first round of the 5A girls basketball playoffs. Sarena Mackley’s 10 points led the Bees in defeat. Jordan next visits No. 4 Lehi Thursday in the 2nd round of the state playoffs at 7:00 pm.
BOUNTIFUL, Utah-Emily Gillian’s 17 points led the No. 21 Spanish Fork Dons to an upset of No. 12 Viewmont 61-44 at Viewmont High School in the first round of the 5A girls basketball playoffs Tuesday. Mary Carr’s 14 points led the Vikings in the loss. Spanish Fork next visits No. 5 Cottonwood in the 2nd round of the state playoffs at 7:00 pm Thursday.
WOODS CROSS, Utah-Georgia Hatton netted 22 points and the No. 9 Woods Cross Wildcats dismantled No. 24 Murray 42-26 Tuesday in the first round of the 5A girls basketball playoffs. Iyana Beh had 10 points in the loss for the Spartans. Woods Cross next visits No. 8 Timpanogos Thursday at 7:00 pm in the 2nd round of the state playoffs.
VERNAL, Utah-Lilikoi Suguturaga had 13 points and the No. 17 Mountain View Bruins pounded No. 16 Uintah 55-39 in the first round of the 5A girls basketball playoffs Tuesday. McKenzie White’s 11 points led the Utes in the loss. The Bruins next visit No. 1 Springville Thursday at 7:00 pm in the 2nd round of the state playoffs.
HOLLADAY, Utah-The No. 22 Skyline Eagles waxed No. 11 Olympus 54-48 Tuesday in the first round of the 5A girls basketball playoffs. The Eagles next visit No. 6 Payson in the 2nd round of the state playoffs Thursday at 7:00 pm.
