WOODS CROSS, Utah-Chris Cook had touchdown runs of 29 and 63 yards and Mack Kelson threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Crew Erickson as the No. 23 Wasatch Wasps edged No. 10 Woods Cross 28-27 Friday in the first round of the 5A playoffs. Kelson added a 27-yard touchdown run for the Wasps in victory. Kelvan Malepeai ran for three scores in defeat for the Wildcats. Wasatch next visits No. 7 Spanish Fork in the 5A second round Friday. SALT LAKE CITY-Michael Fonua ran for two scores and caught a touchdown pass as the No. 15 East Leopards pounded No. 18 Skyline 70-28 Friday in the first round of the 5A playoffs. Josh Calvert threw two touchdown passes in the loss for the Eagles. East next visits No. 2 Timpview Friday in the second round of the 5A playoffs.
PAYSON, Utah-Jackson Godfrey ran for two scores and the No. 21 Olympus Titans upset No. 12 Payson 24-8 in the first round of the 5A playoffs Friday. Kade Edwards threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Swasey in the loss for the Lions. Olympus next visits No. 5 Brighton in the second round of the 5A playoffs Friday.

EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah-Cooper Thomson threw four touchdown passes and the No. 13 Cedar Valley Aviators dismantled No. 20 Viewmont 52-34 Friday in the first round of the 5A playoffs. Luke Jacobs tossed a pair of scoring passes in defeat for the Vikings. The Aviators next visit No. 4 Stansbury Friday in the second round of the 5A playoffs.

5A State Championship
SANDY, Utah-The Cinderella Skyline Eagles, the No. 10 seed, outlasted No. 8 Bountiful 4-2 on penalty kicks to win the 5A state girls soccer championship Friday evening at Zions Bank Stadium. The Eagles have now won five state girls soccer titles and have gone back-to-back. Skyline has won state titles in soccer in 2001, 2015, 2019, 2021 and 2022.
