CEDAR CITY, Utah-Thursday, Southern Utah University freshman linebacker Kohner Cullimore was named to the Jerry Rice Award Watchlist.

Cullimore, a native of Gilbert, Ariz., has 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble on the season for the 3-4 (1-2 in WAC play) Thunderbirds.

The Jerry Rice Award is annually granted to the best freshman in NCAA FCS football.

Past recipients include current Los Angeles Rams star receiver Cooper Kupp (Eastern Washington), Miami Dolphins tailback Chase Edmonds (Fordham) and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance (North Dakota State).

Cullimore and his SUU teammates return to action Saturday by hosting Stephen F. Austin at Eccles Coliseum as the WAC season ensues for both squads.
