DENVER-Monday, the Western Athletic Conference announced its preseason men’s basketball coaches and media polls and all-conference teams.
Grand Canyon was picked to win the WAC by both conference media and coaches.
In the coaches poll, Utah Valley was selected seventh with a 85 votes. Southern Utah was selected ninth with 66 votes and Utah Tech was selected 12th with 30 votes.
In the media poll, Utah Valley was selected eighth. Southern Utah checked in at ninth and Utah Tech is projected to finish 12th.
Southern Utah graduate senior guard/forward Tevian Jones made the all-WAC first team, as did Utah Valley senior guard Trey Woodbury. SUU senior forward Maizen Fausett made the all-conference second team.
Jones posted 14.6 points and 4.7 rebounds for the Thunderbirds last season. In 2021-22, Fausett recorded 11.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game for SUU. Last season, Woodbury posted 7.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the Wolverines.
