CEDAR CITY, Utah-Tuesday morning, Southern Utah University men’s basketball head coach Todd Simon announced the addition of former Oakland shooting guard Zion Young.

Young is the fifth transfer the Thunderbirds have welcomed into the program this offseason.

The native of Merrillville, Ind. has spent the entirety of his collegiate eligibility in the Midwest prior to this transfer.

Young spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at Western Illinois and has been with the Golden Grizzlies the past two seasons.

As a collegian, Young has averaged 8.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game for both the Leathernecks and the Golden Grizzlies.
